When God Made Man

Intro - 2 beats

When God made man, it turned out nice
In fact, a perfect creation, so He did it twice
Formed from dust, Adam came to life
And from his rib, God made his wife.

Lookin' back, it makes you think
Did the first two folks appreciate their link
To God, who made Eden, they were blessed
Guess not, or that'd be our address.

I sometimes wonder in daydreams
If I could go once in a time machine
Arrive in time to grab Eve's hand
And slap it hard, make sure she ran.

But it's not so easy, we all know
'Cause Satan's waitin' there behind the door
Eve would return tomorrow noon
She'd always be a pickin' fool.

Adam, too, did not refrain
Cheatin', eatin', pointin' for the blame
"This woman You put here with me,"
Blamin' God and Eve, how cowardly.

What perfection that day was lost
Satan's lies believed, and God's will crossed
Banned fruit consumed was man's first sin,
But not the last, it never ends.

Into our minds, like a boll weevil
Satan burrows, unseen, from time primeval
Persuading: No! That's not evil!
Stealing? It should be yours, that's retrieval.

Man's thirst for spilling righteous blood
Roused God's wrath in purifying flood
But lessons taught are soon forgot
When we believe it's, "Don't get caught."

Maybe if not for Abraham
The road to hell would be a traffic jam
Through him, all men were blessed or cursed
What if he, not Adam, had been first?

Does blood that flows through all men's veins
Stop inches short of reaching their brains?
What other way can you explain
Choice to remain in Satan's chains?

A tragedy this tale would be
If evil were allowed to run free
But God had quite another plan
One conceived 'fore time began.

A spotless Lamb, God's only Son
Heaven-sent from God, and Spirit, they were one
On His back, all our sins He wore
Crucified for us, such pain He bore.

Three days entombed, He rose to live
Eternally, the same to you, He now gives
Take Jesus as your Savior now
Heaven's yours forever, God has vowed.

Say it now: Jesus, come into my heart.
It will change your life. And your eternity.
