ACT TWO

Military generals and civilian planners surround the Russian President.

PRESIDENT IVANOV

General Petrenko, give us your assessment of the situation in the Middle East.

GENERAL PETRENKO

President Ivanov, Generals. Our intelligence from satellites and on the ground reveals that the Independent Arab Confederation has attacked Israel over control of Jerusalem.

They were supposed to have waited for us to initiate the attack but, after the Jewish Temple was rebuilt, they decided that they would delay no longer to reclaim what they consider their land. They are out to destroy that Temple and reclaim Mount Moriah.

The religious fervor they incite in their armies only conceals a lust for power by their leaders, so we see this as a wider conflict in which we cannot afford to sit idle.
